Version 0.4.8 extends the capability of Fraqtive to generate very high quality images and series of images (animations). The new "Multi-Sampling" setting makes it possible to generate images using multiple samples per pixel (2x2, 4x4 or 8x8 samples). This greatly improves the quality of images, especially in the "noisy" areas.
Multi-sampling works by simply rendering a larger image and then scaling it down to the requested size. The maximum size of the resulting image depends on the multi-sampling setting. Without multi-sampling, the maximum size is 30720 x 17280 pixels (in the 64-bit version), while with maximum 8x8 multi-sampling, the maximum resolution is 3840 x 2160 pixels (commonly known as the 4K resolution).
This is an example of an animation rendered using Fraqtive, with 4x4 multi-sampling used together with anti-aliasing and blending:
There was also a bug in version 0.4.7 which caused Fraqtive to look for presets and bookmarks in the wrong location on Windows. This bug is now fixed in version 0.4.8.
